Do you fit?

Almost certainly. The car adjusts around you.

Spec Racer Ford Gen3 · Fit check

Fit is a process, not a limitation.

Nobody gets turned away on a number. Whether you fit an SRF3 comes down to leg room, shoulder room and wheel clearance, and all three adjust, so a Spec Racer Ford fit check is something we work through with you: your proportions, then the seat, the pedals and the wheel until the car is set up around you. Height and weight on their own tell us very little.

For example: we have fitted a driver at 6'7" and 275 lb. That is not a limit. Someone taller or heavier with different proportions can fit just as well; someone shorter can need more adjustment. We look at the numbers together and set the car up for you.

What that looks like

Four ways the car meets you.

The Spec Racer is not one-size-fits-all. Seats, pedals and the steering column all adjust, and inserts go further still. Here is what that looks like.

Standard Spec Racer Ford SRF3 seat

Standard seat

The original seat for the SRF, introduced in 1984. Its comfortable, upright position lets you bring the controls to you.

How we check

What happens after you send your numbers.

Step 1

You send five measurements.

Height, weight, seated height, shoulder width, helmet size. Two minutes, no account.

Step 2

We set the car up for you.

We have collected the measurements of every one of our drivers, and yours join them. We use them so that on your first day at the track, the car is as close to your liking as possible.

Step 3

A fit check and an orientation.

Once we confirm we have a seat for you, we invite you to the shop in Huntsville for a fit check and your first orientation to the car. If you can't come to the shop before your first race, don't worry. All the changes to the cockpit can be made in less than 30 minutes. Not close to Huntsville? We can also refer you to one of our partners around the country for a sit-in near you.

Step 4 · optional

A custom seat insert, $1,200. Yours to keep.

Molded to you, about four hours in the shop, done once. The insert is yours, and it goes into whichever of our cars you drive, every weekend after. Spec Racers are built the same everywhere, so it fits other SRFs around the country too, if you want to travel. The price covers the seat materials and the labor to fit and finish it. We use products from seatinserts.com and Totim Racing. Worth it if you plan to race with us regularly; the basic fit is enough for a first weekend.
