May 15–18, 2025 | Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
The 2025 Hoosier Super Tour stop at Mid-Ohio brought sunshine, strategy, and steady improvement for young driver Jackson Diehl and the MPG Motorsports crew. With a packed weekend of test sessions, qualifying rounds, and races, plus some lighthearted off-track moments, the event proved to be another valuable chapter in Jackson’s early racing career.
Driver Highlights: Jackson Diehl
Jackson Diehl continued to impress with his growth on and off the track. With only four race weekends under his belt in an SRF3, Jackson showed pace, composure, and a hunger to learn. One standout moment came when the team diagnosed an issue with his braking technique: he was unintentionally staying on the throttle while braking. The solution? New shoes, a throttle return spring, and a valuable team lesson: when it comes to pedal feel, the flimsier the sole, the better.
Race Recap: From Test Day to Race Day
Thursday test day: Jackson shaved more than two seconds off his lap time during the six test sessions: opening with a 1:40.479 and finishing strong at 1:38.195.
Friday:
- Practice: P4 with a 1:36.653
- Qualifying 1: P8 with a 1:36.471
Saturday:
- Track was damp in the morning from overnight rain. Jackson navigated the drying line to post a 1:37.391, placing 5th in Qualifying 2.
- Race 1: Started 8th, clocked a race-best 1:36.404, and finished 8th: just 0.001 behind S. Sandy Satullo III in a nail-biting finish.
Sunday:
- Cooler temperatures (nearly 20°F difference) prompted setup tweaks: added cross weight and stiffer front shocks.
- Race 2: Jackson battled with Mark Greb and Michael O’Dell, ultimately securing P8 with a best lap of 1:36.297.
After Sunday’s race, the team passed post-race tech: including scales, ride height, brake inspection, and ECU data downloads by SCCA Enterprises: with flying colors.

Behind the Scenes
Todd and Cliff kicked off the trip with a road warrior’s stop at the Florence, KY Costco: fuel and a food court feast in one go. Back at the track, the crew stayed busy refining Jackson’s footwork and prepping the car for changing weather. Off-track, Jackson stayed with longtime friends: the Hibbits: while the rest of the crew found comfort and good eats at the Deer Ridge Golf Club in Bellville.
A fun team moment? Jackson and Kamden Hibbitt sharing a ride on a mini-bike: instantly sparking a “Dumb and Dumber” comparison and set to “Let Me Tell You About My Best Friend.” It’s these bits of levity that balance the intensity of a race weekend.
Dining and bonding
- Deer Ridge Golf Club: So good they went twice. Great patio, solid beer list.
- The Local @97: Another standout dinner spot.
- Quality Inn & Suites: Affordable, comfortable, and convenient.
Homemade tuna salad in pitas kept the team fueled, and a Walmart+ delivery brought water and paper towels straight to the track. (Tip: drop the GPS pin outside the gate to meet the delivery driver!)

Reflections and links
From footwork to fast laps, the Mid-Ohio weekend was a big step forward for Jackson. As Josh Diehl put it:
"I appreciate the support, guidance and mentorship that Jack has received on and off the track. Each week he gets better, and we couldn't be more excited to be part of this team."
Jackson may still be early in his racing journey, but his results show promise: outpaced only by seasoned SRF3 veterans. If you’re thinking of transitioning from karts to cars, this is the kind of learning weekend that builds champions.
